Our school is approximately 8 mins from the township of Castlemaine on the Pyrenees Highway, approximately 6 kilometres. Students enrolled at RedGum come from a range of towns across the Central Goldfields area such as Maryborough, Bendigo, Kyneton, Newstead, Daylesford and all parts of Castlemaine such as Barkers Creek & Chewton etc.

Aside from parents driving their children to school, there are multiple school bus routes to the school and a cycling route that can also be used.

Our Office team can also assist with sharing information on parent organised car pool arrangements.

RedGum Carpark and general parking information

Please slow down upon entry to RedGum – speed limit is 10km/h in the interest of the safety of our students. Please park in the angle parking on the perimeter of the carpark and role model road safety to our students by walking on the footpath to access classrooms rather than cross the middle of the carpark to e.g. access Early Childhood area

RedGum School Bus

We have a dedicated RedGum School Bus that begins its route in Chewton each morning and collects at 4 other locations across town before arriving at school. These stops are known as Railway Station, St Mary’s, Winters Flat & Campbells Creek. Full details and the timetable can be found here.

Students are reserved a place on the bus by prior arrangement via emailing enquiries@redgum.vic.edu.au, or calling the school on 5479 2000. We can then advise on costs and any eligibility to access available government funding for bus travel to school.

Bus price per student
3 – 5 set days a week $160 per term (and family completes a BUS SCAS form assigning this to the School as part contribution to the bus cost. Should the student not be eligible for BUS SCAS, the student will be charged $320 per term)

Casual use – i.e. extra days determined week to week and subject to availability – $10 per day. For casual use of the bus, parents/guardians are asked to call Reception on 03 5479 2000 on the day, at 10.30am (after all students have been accounted for) to see if there is a place available on the bus.

Cycling to School

We have “Ride to School” events in the school year. For children/staff/parents cycling to school please note the following map on the safest route to cross the Pyrenees Highway when coming from Campbell’s Creek. Cyclists must then enter the school via the “Bush Track”. Thank-you to CycleSafe Mt Alexander for your advice.
